California Mentor hosts an annual community event for Autism Awareness month in April. This year’s theme was “Explore Your World.” The event is a safe, family & sensory-friendly event for children and adults with special needs to gather, learn about specialized resources, and enjoy fun activities, food, and presentations. This year showcased over 30 local businesses, dance groups, a BMX stunt demonstration, and speeches from community organizers and the Mayor of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Keeping with the safari & exploration theme, California Mentor volunteers passed out treasure maps for attendees to visit each booth to collect stamps: once the map was filled out, attendees would receive an exciting free gift to commemorate the event.
